Effective 9/1/2023, Texas House Bill 114 requires a student to be placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, or is under the influence of, or sells, gives, or delivers marijuana, THC, or an e-cigarette to another person within 300 feet of school property or at a school-related event. Parent may find the full version of the Bill here: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00114F.pdf The District encourages all families to talk with their students regarding the dangers associated with vaping or drug usage and to discuss the implications of this new law with your children, emphasizing the importance of adhering to school policies and laws for their own welfare and for the betterment of the school community as a whole. Your cooperation and support in ensuring that our district remains a safe and healthy educational environment for our students is deeply appreciated.

Books-A-Million launched a summer book drive to benefit Silver Lake Elementary. The books were selected from a list of titles approved by the board. The book drive continues through August 20th, allowing generous Books-A-Million shoppers to make a positive impact on their community in a way that's just as easy as it is rewarding. The manager of Books-A-Million in Grapevine Mills Mall, Keri Rogers, delivered nearly 200 books to Mrs. Whiteside and Mrs. Sporrer this week. And she will continue to run book drives throughout the school year to benefit Silver Lake. Thank you Books-A-Million Grapevine Mills Mall!

Silver Lake Elementary and Silver Lake PTA, recently had a shoes and clothing donation bin placed on campus into which you can place your gently worn shoes, clothing, purses, wallets, belts, hats/caps, backpacks, hard toys that will fit into the bin, soft toys, and stuffed animals. Our PTA is paid by the pound each month for the amount of those items that are collected in the bin. It’s a great way to raise additional funds. Please be respectful of their campus and do not leave items on the ground around the bin. Please wait until the bin is emptied to place your items in the bin. Help support Silver Lake PTA!
