Silver Lake Elementary, located near Lake Grapevine, opened in 1995 surrounded by woods and lake property. Under the leadership of former Grapevine teacher, Riney Jordan, Silver Lake became the eleventh elementary school in the district. The original "Silver Lake Super Scholars" were comprised mostly of students who originally were zoned for Dove Elementary and Cannon Elementary. Soon the students voted to change the mascot to Shooting Stars.

Through the years the Silver Lake faculty members have continued to make significant contributions to the success of several other schools within the district. ~ Former Silver Lake staff have become principals and leaders at Bransford Elementary, Grapevine Elementary, O.C. Taylor Elementary, Timberline Elementary, Cannon Elementary, Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage High Schools, and Cross Timbers Middle School. They have also gone on to hold leadership positions at the central administration building. 

Silver Lake is very fortunate to have had the direction and leadership of eight wonderful principals: Dr. Riney Jordan, Judy Brooks, Dr. Paul Jennings, Lisa Dunn, Dr. Gilbert Gonzalez, and Dr. Shannon Cole. Currently, Nicole Whiteside is our principal.

We are a tight-knit group who can often be heard saying, "Once a Shooting Star, Always a Shooting Star!".
